It was a split over the weekend for the Logan High School baseball team.
Logan lost 12-1 at Cabell Midland on Saturday after winning 5-4 at home last Friday night over Class AAA sectional rival St. Albans.
Cabell Midland scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and seven more in the second to take an 11-0 lead. The Knights then coasted to victory.
Cabell Midland outhit Logan 11-5 and had no errors. Logan (10-8) had two errors.
T. Jay Mullins was the starting and losing pitcher for the Wildcats. He went two innings and yielded 11 runs (eight earned) and 10 hits. Peyton Branham pitched the last two innings and gave up one run.
Jared Shawver had a triple and Tyler Topping smacked out a double for Logan. Will Akers, Alex Toler and Mullins each had a single.
In last Friday’s game, Shawver was the starting and winning pitcher for Logan. He went six innings and gave up two unearned runs while striking out eight. Chase Burnette then tossed one inning and picked up the save. He allowed two runs and two hits with one punchout.
Logan outhit the Red Dragons 10-7. LHS had three errors to one for St. Albans.
Tyler Browning was 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Wildcat bats. Shawver was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Burnette and Toler each had a double and Akers a triple.
Ryan Holstein, Topping, Mullins and Devin Hensley each singled.
Logan was scheduled to host Van on Monday night, weather permitting. The Cats then travel to Lincoln County on Thursday at 5 p.m., host Ripley on Friday at 7 p.m. and host Hurricane on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the regular season finale.
