Man, Madison advance in 9-10 tourney

CHAPMANVILLE — The Madison All-Stars broke open a close game with homestanding Chapmanville and went on to win 16-5 in the 9-10-year-old District 2 Little League Baseball Tournament on Tuesday at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field.

The game was tied 5-5 in the fourth inning but then Madison exploded to score 11 more runs to put the game away.

Chapmanville dropped to 2-1 in the double-elimination tourney and was slated to take on county rival Man (2-1) in an elimination game on Wednesday night.

The Man All-Stars rolled over Omar, 13-1, on Tuesday night to advance to Wednesday’s contest against Chapmanville. Man is now 2-1 in the tournament. Omar, which lost to Pineville on Sunday, closed out tournament play with an 0-2 record.

Tug Valley (0-1) was scheduled to take on Matewan (0-1) on Tuesday night in an elimination game but the contest was rained out and moved to Wednesday night.

No further information or statistics were available on Tuesday night’s games.
