Southern Elite takes two firsts in US Finals in Florida

The Southern Elite Junior 3 All-Star cheerleaders took first place recently in the US Finals, held in Pensacola, Fla.


The Southern Elite Youth all-stars won the US Finals in Florida.

The Southern Elite all-star cheerleaders of Logan capped off another stellar season by taking two first-place finishes at the US Finals, held April 16-17 at Pensacola, Fla.

The Youth 2 Glamour team and the Junior 3 Glitter squad both took firsts in Florida. The Junior 3 squad was notified the team has advanced and is eligible to compete in the Champions Challenge for the national championship.

The Southern Elite Tiny Twinkle squad was fourth and the Mini 1 Dazzle squad was third at Pensacola.

Back on March 5 at the Spirit Unlimited event in Fairmont, W.Va., the Southern Elite Youth 2 squad took first place, won the Grand Championship and had the highest score of the day.

The Mini 1 team was also first place and took the Grand Championship in Fairmont, and won a paid Gold Bid to the US Finals.

The Tiny team was first and the Junior 3 team was second at Fairmont.

Back on Jan. 23 in Louisville in a Live event, the Southern Elite Junior 3 team was first place and in Session 3 took the Red Carpet Smiles Award.

Also at Louisville, Southern Elite’s Youth 2 team grabbed first place and took the Thumbs Up Tumbling Award in Session 2 for having the best tumbling. The team was also crowned Grand Champions, earned the highest score of the day and received a paid bid to the US Finals.

The Mini 1 team was second place in Louisville and Southern Elite’s Lexi Gillman won the Celebrity Standout Award.

The Tiny Twinkle team was third place in Louisville in its division.

Back on December 12, in a Jamfest event in Lexington, Ky., Southern Elite’s Mini 1 team won first place, while the Tiny, Youth and Junior teams were second.

Southern Elite opened the season back on Nov. 7 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the Mini 1 squad won first place and took the Grand Championship. The Youth 2 team was also first and earned a paid bid to The Get Ready To Rock CLCC Showdown in Chicago.

In Cincy, the Tiny team was third and the Junior squad took second place in its division.

Southern Elite is coached by Jamie Tomblin. The assistant coaches are Tiffany Carter, Kara Vernatter, Alex Justice and Holly Blair.

Tomblin said SEAS had a fantastic season.

“I also want to add this has been one of the most enjoyable seasons I’ve ever had as a coach,” she said. “These kids are unbelievably talented and hardworking. They’ve been such a joy to coach. They are true champions on and off the mat and I’m truly blessed to have them at SEAS.”

Southern Elite practices in their gym located at West Logan.

The gym is owned and operated by Jamie and Kenny Tomblin.
