LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Salem International senior softball player Katie Chryssofos was named a second-team all-region selection announced the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday evening.
Chryssofos, a Logan High School graduate and Chapmanville native, who was also named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Year, established the league’s single-season home run record and ranks sixth nationally with 19 home runs and 14th with 61 RBI this season.
She also ranks seventh in Division II in both home runs per game (0.38) and RBI per game (1.22), while ranking eighth overall with a .896 slugging percentage.
A two-time All-G-MAC selection, Chryssofos finished her career as the G-MAC’s all-time leader in home runs (44), RBI (143) and total bases (298). She is the first softball player in program history to be named to a NFCA All-Region team.
Chryssofos was one of two all-region selections from the conference. G-MAC Pitcher of the Year Haley Fagan of Trevecca Nazarene was also named to the second team.
Each of the all-region selections is eligible for consideration on the NFCA All-America teams, which will be announced later this month.
