Competing in the Summit is never easy.
In the world of all-star competitive cheerleading it’s the defacto nationals as the best of the best converged on Tampa, Fla., a couple of weekends ago.
The Logan-based Cheeriffic All-Stars made the best out of its trip to the Division II Summit as the team’s Youth 2 squad tied for second place out of 42 teams in its division in the prestigious cheerleading event.
It’s one of the best ever showings for Cheeriffic on the national stage.
Last year in the all-division Summit competition in Orlando, Fla., Cherriffic’s Junior 3 sqaud was a participant.
This year’s showing was like the icing on the cake to yet another successful season for the Cheeriffic program.
The Youth 2 team was third place after Day 1 last Saturday and advanced, eventually moving into a second-place tie after Day 2 with the CTA Highflyers Spitfire team out of Morgantown, W.Va.
The Texas Empire Rampage team of Arlington, Texas, took first place.
In the finals, Cheeriffic beat out teams from North Carolina, Kansas, Rhode Island, Missouri, Louisiana, Indiana, Texas, New York, Georgia, Illinois and Pennsylvania.
The whole event was streamed live over the internet on varsity.tv.
Teams from 46 states and from as far away as California, Maine and Hawaii took part in the event. Over 9,000 cheerleaders were on hand at the invitation-only competition.
