Salem International senior softball player Katie Chryssofos was recently named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) First-Team All-Region team in a vote by the Midwest Region’s sports information directors.
Chryssofos, a Logan High School graduate and Chapmanville native, established the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) and Salem International single-season home run records and ranks seventh nationally with 19 home runs and 15th with 61 RBI this season. She also ranks seventh in Division II in home runs per game (0.38), RBI per game (1.22), and slugging percentage (.896).
This season’s G-MAC Player of the Year, Chryssofos finished her career as the G-MAC’s all-time leader in home runs (44), RBI (143) and total bases (298). She is the first softball player in program history to be named to a Division II CCA All-Region team, formally sponsored by Daktronics.
With her selection to the first team, Chryssofos is now eligible for CCA Division II All-America honors. Only first-team all-region honorees are nominated on the national ballot.
