Man last county baseball team standing

And then there was one.

Following last weekend’s shocking upsets by the Scott High School baseball team over Class AA No. 2-ranked Chapmanville in the sectional tournament and Logan’s 0-2 showing in its Class AAA sectional that leaves one county baseball team left standing.

The Man Hillbillies.

Man (9-16), which swept Tug Valley last week in the Class A sectionals with 13-0 and 10-0 wins, have moved on to play May 24 at either Sherman or Van in the regional semifinals.

Man was scheduled to play on Monday night at Scott in a tune-up game. The Billies then play at Herbert Hoover on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in another tune-up game.

The Hillbillies are hoping to make it back to the Class A state tournament. Last year, Man reached the Single-A state finals but lost to Wahama. Two seasons ago, the Billies won the Class A state championship.

This is Man’s last season as a Class A school as the Billies are set to move up to the Double-A ranks next spring.
