The Man High School baseball team scored a 6-4 win at Scott on Monday night in a regular season tuneup game.
Both Man and Scott are set to play in the upcoming Class A and Class AA regional baseball semifinals.
Man was a two games to none winner over Tug Valley to take its sectional series recently, while Scott swept No. 2-ranked Chapmanville in a pair of games to win its Double-A sectional title.
Jake Adkins, a senior lefthander, picked up the win on the mound in the Hillbillies’ win over the Skyhaws as he went all seven innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
Scott used four pitchers as Peyton Brown took the loss in relief, going two innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Austin Wheatley started for the Skyhawks and tossed two innings. He allowed one earned runs on two hits. Carter Lyles then pitched two innings in relief, yielding two earned runs on three hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Nathan Kuhn then fired the last inning and gave up one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and one free pass.
Man led 3-1 after three innings of play before Scott tied it with a two-spot in the bottom of the fourth. Man then added one run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
The Hillbillies outhit Scott 9-5 and committed no errors. Scott had one error.
Man led at the plate by Kenny Jo Adkins who was 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and three runs scored.
Seth Chapman had a double and two RBI for Man, while Tyler Blair had a single and two runs knocked in.
Nick Collins, John McCoy, Austin Gent and Dylan Goodman each had a hit.
For Scott, Wheatley was 1-for-3 with three RBI. Adam Epling was 1-for-3 with one run driven in. Kuhn, Nathan Ramsey and Andrew Prince all added a hit.
Man was scheduled to play at Herbert Hoover in another tuneup game on Tuesday night.
The Hillbillies (10-16) play May 24 at Sherman (13-17) in the Class A regional semifinals. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
Scott (16-13) plays May 24 against Wayne (19-10) in the AA regionals.
