PINEVILLE — Chapmanville and Madison are scheduled to play for the District 2 9-10-year-old Little League championship on Tuesday in Pineville.
Man and Welch were slated to play on Monday, while Logan battled with Matewan.
Both the district champion and runner-up advance to the upcoming state tournament.
On Sunday, Chapmanville advanced with a 12-1 win over Matewan in five innings. Logan won 15-7 over Pineville and Madison prevailed 11-10 over Man.
On Saturday, Chapmanville was an 18-3 winner over Welch. Madison took an 11-7 win over Logan and Man routed host Pineville 16-1 in a five-inning mercy rule game.
In Sunday’s Madison-Man game, Madison pitcher Matt Frye hit a home run and singled twice. Luke Knight had three singles for Madison. Kaden Underwood had a triple and two singles. Owen Adkins, Hunter Null, Austin Light and Easton Fowler also singled.
Bo Thompson, Cameron Gerace and Drake Veres each had two singles for Man. Hunter Gibson and Braxton Bartram each had a double and a single. Jacob Bartram, Chris Gibson and Brad Broom each had singles for Man.
In Chapmanville’s win on Saturday over Welch, pitcher Adam Mullins had a triple, double and single, nearly hitting for the cycle, while shortstop Talon Thompson ripped out three singles. Jett Baisden added a single, while Corey Johnson had a double and a single. Andrew Farley had a single as well for Chapmanville. Ian Plumley walked four times.
In Logan’s victory over Pineville, Joey Canterbury finished with two singles and a triple. Dylan Vance doubled and McCormick Ilderton and Chase Hatfield each had a single for Logan. Shelton Stone, the Logan starting pitcher, had a double and a single. Eli Messer also singled and Caden Baisden doubled.
In Saturday’s Man-Pineville game, Adkins and Frye each had a single for Madison. Knight had a triple and a single. Null had two singles. Cooper Vint, Easton Fowler and Nick Miller also singled. Underwood finished with two singles.
In Sunday’s win over Matewan, Chapmanville’s Mullins clubbed a pair of doubles and a triple, while Talon Thompson hammered a double and a single and Corey Thompson tallied a pair of singles. Farley had a double and a single. Baisden and Sam Miller each had a single. Andrew Topping doubled.
Duece Prater had a double — the only hit of the game for Matewan.
Brad Brown had two singles and Bartram had a single. Thompson tripled. Veres had a triple, double and single. Hunter Gibson tallied two singles and a double. Cameron Gerace had two singles and Chris Gibson had one single.
Hatfield had a triple and two singles for Logan in Saturday’s game against Madison, while Cole Blankenship had a pair of singles. Canterbury and Messer each had a single, while Stone had two singles.
* The 11-12-year-old District 2 Little League tournament is now scheduled to begin on July 5. The tourney is slated to be played at the Logan Little League’s Paul Hale Field.
