The Man 9-10-year-old Little League All-Stars advanced to the upcoming state tournament with an 11-1 win over county rival Chapmanville in the District 2 runner-up game on Thursday night in Pineville.

The game was stopped after four innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Man joined Madison, which secured the district championship and a state tournament berth earlier in the week with a 7-0 win over Chapmanville.

Man was led at the plate by catcher Kaden Dickerson, who had three hits, including a triple and two singles.

Brad Brown had a double and a single for Man. Pitcher Drake Veres, the starting and winning hurler, had two singles in the win. Bo Thompson added a single.

Braxton Bartram scored final run of the game on walk-off hit by Cameron Gerace to right field in the fourth inning. The score made it a 10-run margin to end the game.

Adam Mullins, Sam Miller and Andrew Farley had hits for Chapmanville.

Chapmanville scored its lone run in the second inning.

Man plated three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Man then scored two more in the second to go on top 5-1. A six-run outburst in the fourth inning then ended the game early.

Man and Madison both advanced to the upcoming 9-10 state tourney, slated to begin on July 8 at Elkins.
