Logan to host 11-12 tourney

Just seven teams are scheduled to compete in this weekend’s 11-12-year-old District 2 Little League Baseball Tournament at Logan’s Paul Hale Field.

Two of those teams will advance to the upcoming state tourney.

The district tournament is slated to begin on Saturday, July 9 with a trio of games at Logan. Man plays Tug Valley at 2 p.m. then in Game 2, host Logan takes on Welch at 4 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament. Game 3 has Chapmanville battling it out with Madison at 6 p.m.

Three games are set to be played on Sunday. Pineville plays the Man/Tug Valley winner at 2 p.m. Then at 4 p.m. the Logan/Welch winner plays the Chapmanville/Madison winner. The final matchup of the day has the Logan/Welch loser squaring off with the Chapmanville/Madison loser.

Then on Monday, July 11 advancing teams will play at 6 and 8.

On Tuesday, July 12, the distrct championship game is set to be played at 6 p.m. with the winner moving on to play in the state tourney. There will also be a winner’s bracket game at 8.

The two surviving teams then play on Wednesday, July 13 in the runner-up game for the second state tourney berth.

The 11-12 state tourney begins July 22 at Bridgeport.
