Logan 11-12s ousted from state

The Logan 11-12-year-old Little League All-Stars were ousted from the state tournament with Sunday’s 10-0 loss to Fairmont.

Logan finished 1-2 in the double-elimination state tourney, which is being held at Bridgeport.

The Logan All-Stars lost 9-3 to Sophia on Friday, then beat Central Greenbrier 20-10 on Saturday.

No game statistics were reported to the Logan Banner.

Fairmont advanced with Monday’s 7-2 win over Sophia. Later in the day, Fairmont defeated Madison 5-3 to move on to Tuesday’s state semifinals against Barboursville. The other semifinal had Jefferson County taking on Bridgeport.

The loss to Fairmont also knocked out Madison from the state tournament and avenged an earlier loss. Madison had beaten Fairmont 4-3 on Saturday in the second roundup. Madison lost 7-6 to Jefferson County on Sunday and closed out with a 1-2 record.

Barboursville advanced to the semifinals with Sunday’s 21-9 win over South Charleston. Bridgeport moved on with a 12-2 win over South Charleston.
