After a pair of impressive opening season wins the Logan High School football team is ranked No. 8 in the state in this week’s Class AA MetroNews Power Index.
The Wildcats were ranked No. 10 after beating Class AA county rival Man 48-13 in Week One.
Logan then destroyed Poca 61-11 last week.
The Wildcats are slated to play their third straight home game to start the season with Friday night’s clash with Lincoln County (0-2) at Logan Stadium.
Logan was one of three Cardinal Conference teams in the top 10.
Mingo Central (2-0), fresh off last week’s 42-20 rout over Class A Tolsia, was fourth. Herbert Hoover (2-0), a 13-12 winner last Friday night at Chapmanville, climbed two spots to No. 7.
Bridgeport (2-0) was first, Fairmont Senior (2-0) second and Point Pleasant (2-0) third. Point edged Ripley 19-17 last week.
The Keyser Golden Tornado (2-0) are fifth in the state, while Weir (2-0) is sixth. James Monroe (1-0) is ninth and Westside (2-0) 10th. The Westside Rengades play at Man on Friday night after thrashing county rival Wyoming East 58-8 last week.
Sissonville (2-0), another Cardinal Conference team, was 12th in the state. Winfield (1-1), another conference member, also received votes.
Martinsburg (2-0), Huntington (2-0) and Morgantown (2-0) are one, two and three in this week’s MetroNews Class AAA Power Index.
Wheeling Central (2-0), St. Marys (2-0) and East Hardy (2-0) are one, two, three in the Class A poll.
