CHAPMANVILLE — With a 2-0 showing last week in the Logan County Tri-match and a county championship, the Chapmanville Regional High School volleyball team is off to a good start to the 2016 season.
The Lady Tigers won the county title by beating Man 2-1 and Logan 2-0.
Chapmanville beat Man 25-23, 27-29 and 26-24.
“What a great game and nice way to start the season,” CRHS coach Johnny Williamson said. “Man then beat Logan 2-1 in a close match. I don’t think we played very well but managed to win. Abby Marcum showed great leadership and Carley Cook has moved from setter to outside hitter. Junior Emily Triplett has looked great this year in practice so far, but was sick last week and struggled. Grace Belcher, a junior softball player, came out this year. She hasn’t played since middle school, but played a big part in our win.
“Jessica Hurst, Katherine Muncy, and Madison Fortney all played solid, but not their best.”
The Lady Tigers then beat Logan, 27-25, 25-20 to finish off the evening.
“In the game against Logan, Summer Butcher, Demi Adkins and freshman KK Davis came off the bench to give us solid play,” Williamson said.
CRHS was scheduled to host Scott and Nitro on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers play at Clay County on Thursday at 6 p.m.
