C-ville still unbeaten in 11-12 tourney

MADISON — Isaac Dixon ripped a two-run homer in the first inning to lead the Chapmanville 11-12 All-Stars to a 5-2 win over homestanding Madison on Thursday night in the District 2 Little League Baseball Tournament at the Madison Little League Field.

Chapmanville, a winner earlier in the week over Logan (10-5), is now 2-0 in the round-robin tournament.

Madison, which lost 8-4 earlier in the week to Man, dropped to 0-2.

Trey Pancake was the starting and winning pitcher for Chapmanville. He allowed just one run before being pulled in the fifth inning due to the 85-pitch count limit rule. J.D. Ferrell then came in in relief and slammed the door on winless Madison.

Levi Bailey had a two-run double and Ethan Stollings also drove in a run for Chapmanville.

Trent Shor hit a solo homer for Madison.

Chapmanville was scheduled to return to action on Saturday afternoon against Man. Madison was set to take on Logan.

Pool play is scheduled to continue on Sunday with four games and on Monday with two more games.

The District 2 semifinals are set for Tuesday at 6 and 8 p.m. with the championship game set to follow on Wednesday night.

Both the district champion and runner-up are set to move on to the state tournament, which is slated to be played in Petersburg.

Omar was scheduled to play Welch on Saturday. Tug Valley was slated to take on Mullens on Friday night. Welch played Pineville on Thursday night.
