CHAPMANVILLE — It was a wash on Friday night at the 9-10-year-old West Virginia State Little League Baseball Tournament at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field.
The Logan 9-10-year-old All-Stars were scheduled to begin the double-elimination state tourney with a game on Friday night against Shady Spring.
The game was rained out and moved to Saturday afternoon at the Logan Little League’s Paul Hale Field.
Logan advanced to the state tournament as the District 2 champions. The Logan All-Stars were undefeated in the districts which were held recently on the same Chapmanville diamond.
Logan advanced with last weekend’s 13-2 win over Madison in the District 2 championship game. Madison moved on with a win over host Chapmanville and will play in the state tourney as the District 2 runner-up.
Logan has won two straight district all-star titles this summer. Recently, Logan’s 7-8-year-old All-Stars won the District 2 championship at Pineville.
Logan had competed in the Cal Ripken League the last five years but opted to go back and get its Little League Charter this year.
The Logan All-Stars last played in Little League Baseball back in 2009 when the 11-12-year-old All-Star team made it all the way to the semifinal round of the West Virginia State Tournament.
