CMS 3-0 ahead of showdown with Madison

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — The Chapmanville Middle School football team ran its record to 3-0 on the season with Thursday night’s 40-19 win at home over the Poca Dots at Chapmanville’s Tiger Stadium.

Isaac Dixon had a big night for the Tigers as ran ran for 268 yards on 14 carries and scored five touchdowns.

Chapmanville’s other score was by Josh Atwood, who finished with 11 carries for 86 yards.

CMS, coached by Jason Maynard, has a showdown this coming Thursday night at Madison (3-0) in the battle of the unbeatens.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Scott High School football field.

Winfield 40,

Logan Middle 22

LOGAN, W.Va. — Winfield stayed unbeaten as the Generals toppled Logan Middle School 40-22 on Thursday night at Logan Stadium.

Winfield improved to 3-0, while Logan dropped to 1-2.

Logan led 14-12 at the end of first quarter and trailed 18-14 at half. Four turnovers in the second half — two fumbles and two interceptions — then put the Timberwolves in a hole.

Rob Tolliver scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion for LMS.

Josh toppings had a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and also scored on a 2-point conversion. Korbin Bostic returned an interception for a 61-yard score for Logan.

Tolliver led Logan on defense with 15 tackles. Connor Farley had nine and Josh Toppings and had eight.

Logan hosts Ravenswood (2-1) next Thursday night.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Logan Stadium.

The T-Wolves opened with a 32-6 loss to Ceredo-Kenova, then won 20-14 at home over Ripley. The only score against the C-K Wonders was touchdown pass from Corey Townsend to Bostic.

Man Middle 48,

George Washington 22

MAN, W.Va. — The Man Middle School football team improved to 2-1 on the season with Thursday night’s 48-22 win at home over George Washington Middle School at Man’s George A. Queen Memorial Field.

Cameron Frye led the way with three touchdowns for Coach Tootie Carter’s troops.

No further information was available on the game.
