CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — There were a lot of stars last week in Chapmanville Regional High School’s huge 29-8 win on the road at arch rival Logan.
Tigers’ coach Rob Dial could tell you that.
However, CRHS running back Tristan Browning helped the Tigers establish a ground game and helped Chapmanville execute its game plan as the Orange and Black won over the Wildcats for the third straight year.
Browning, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior, was able to run for 172 yards on 27 carries, including three touchdown runs of 5, 21 and 30 yards.
For his big game against the Wildcats, Browning has been named as the Logan Banner Player of the Week this week.
Chapmanville won its third straight game and vaulted back into the Class AA playoff race as the Tigers improved to 3-2 overall and 3-2 in the Cardinal Conference.
The Tigers also thrwarted Logan’s attempt to win the county championship. The Wildcats had opened the season with a 48-13 victory over Man.
Now the Tigers can win the county title with a victory over the Hillbillies at home on Oct. 7. Chapmanville, which plays on the road at Nitro this Friday night, evened the all-time series 8-8 with the Cats.
