CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — The Chapmanville Regional High School soccer team ran its record to 7-4-2 on the season with Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at home over Mingo Central at Chapmanville’s Tiger Stadium.

Dillon Renniger scored a goal for the Tigers. Zach Lamb also scored on a penalty kick. Renniger is doing double duty for CRHS this fall as he is also a member of the Tigers’ football squad.

Chapmanville, coached by Greg Dillon, had 29 shots on goal to just two for the Miners.

“We controlled the ball for 72 minutes,” Dillon said. “Renniger is having a good week in the Cardinal Conference. We also got outstanding play from Amber Stokes. We moved her to the middle and it make a big difference. Josh Zigmond controlled the rear area and swept the goal all night long. Austin Hanshaw dazzled the crowd with his footwork. We had several shots in goal but were a bit off.”

Coach Dillon said others played well too.

“We moved the ball around well with Dillon Renniger, Dylan Brown, Zach Lamb, James Ellis and Taylor Carter,” he said.

Mingo Central dropped to 2-12-1 on the season with the loss.

After starting 1-1, the Miners are just 1-11-1 since.

Mingo Central’s two wins this season are against county rival Tug Valley, a first-year program. The Miners beat the Panthers 13-1 on Aug. 23 at home and defeated Tug 6-0 on Monday at Naugatuck.

Chapmanville is scheduled to return to action on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Parkersburg Catholic.

The Tigers then host rival Scott on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. before hosting Herbert Hoover on Oct. 6 for the Chapmanville Soccer Homecoming Game.
