CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — After last week’s big game against the Man Hillbillies, Chapmanville Regional High School’s Billy Shepherd has been named this week as the Logan Banner Player of the Week.
Shepherd, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound senior wide receiver, made an impact on both sides of the ball as the Tigers (5-2) beat county rival Man 40-21, and won its fifth straight game.
Shepherd, reeled in a 53-yard TD pass from QB Adam Vance on the opening drive, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead. He finished with six catches for 125 yards. Vance had an even 300 yards passing.
On the defensive side of the ball, Shepherd intercepted two Cameron Simpson passes, had a fumble recovery and also had five solo tackles and two assists.
“Billy Shepherd had a special game tonight,” CRHS coach Rob Dial said. “I’m so happy for him. He’s a guy that worked hard in the weight room in the off-season. He’s a ‘Yes sir, no sir’ kind of guy. He deserves the have the kind of success that he had tonight.”
