The Logan Middle School football team improved to 4-3 on the season with Thursday night’s 14-8 win at home over Point Pleasant.
Corey Townsend was 8 for 10 passing with one touchdown and a successful 2-point conversation attempt for Logan.
Also for the Timberwolves, Korbin Bostic caught two passes — one for a 46-yard touchdown and one for a 2-point conversion.
Norman Kennedy and Chance Maynard caught two passes each. Both Cameron Hensley and Rob Tolliver had one grab.
Rob Tolliver led Logan Middle on the ground with 54 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Connor Farley led LMS with 12 tackles. Josh Toppings had eight. Rob Tolliver and Ian Sexton had four stops each. Bostic had three tackles and caught an interception to seal the game late in the fourth quarter.
Logan hosts Hurricane this Thursday night at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale.
Chapmanville Middle 48,
Isaac Dixon reached the end zone three times and Nick Ramey scored two touchdowns to lead the Chapmanville Middle School football team to a 48-0 win over Sherman on Thursday night at Chapmanville’s Tiger Stadium.
Josh Atwood also scored a touchdown for the Tigers (6-0).
Evan Plumley scored a touchdown on a fumble return for CMS.
Chapmanville hosts George Washington Middle School on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale.
The Tigers will then play in the Black Diamond Conference playoffs the following week.
Man Middle 46,
The Man Middle School football team improved to 4-3 on the season with Thursday night’s 46-16 win over Duval at Griffithsville.
Man went up 25-0 in the first quarter and never looked back as Man head coach Tootie Carter put in his second and third teams in the second, third and fourth quarters.
The Pioneers got on board on their second play from scrimmage on a 30-yard TD run by Cameron Frye with 7:28 to go. Nick Plumley ran in the 2-point conversion.
Man pushed its lead to 16-0 by cashing in on a Duval turnover as Nick Plumley scored from 32 yards out and quarterback Jeremiah Harless ran in the conversion to give the Pioneers a 16-0 lead with 5:26 to play.
Frye then got his second TD run from 6 yards out and John Paige booted the extra point as Man took a commanding 25-0 lead with 29 seconds left in the first period.
Coach Carter then went to his bench and played his second and third teams the rest of the game as the Pioneers went on to the lopsided win.
Man held a 33-8 halftime lead.
Man closes out the season next Saturday on the road at Madison against the Red Hawks.
