HARTS, W.Va. — Edith Topping, 79, of Harts, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, October 26, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born June 19, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Ezmond and Grace Maynard of Ranger. Also preceding her in death was one sister; Hilda Shelton; father and mother-in-law; Kile and Anna Topping, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Edith’s greatest enjoyment in life was her family and the church. She shined the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to her family, friends, community, and all whom she met. She was a firm believer in working and set that example for her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Shelton Topping; one daughter, Debra (Bill) Baer of Whitman; two sons, Billy (Carolyn) Topping of Ranger and Gary (Juanita) Topping of Huntington; one sister, Lucille Napier of Ranger; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Topping, Amanda Topping, Aaron (Tara) Topping, Jared (Ashlee) Topping, Courtney (Kriston) Topping, Jessica (Brent) Ellis, Derrick (Meredith) Brumfield and Joseph (Fallon) Baer; 10 great-grandchildren, Daniel Topping, Megan Topping, Jacob Topping, Andrew Topping, Jaxon Topping, Devin Carlton, Brennan Hall, Lexi Ellis, Peyton Ellis and Autumn Ellis, and a special friend who was as dear as a sister, Sylvia Mae Maynard.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, at Freeman Funeral Home with Gary Topping officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens of Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Topping, Aaron Topping, Jared Topping, Courtney Topping, Derrick Brumfield, Joseph Baer, Brent Ellis and Daniel Topping
