SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — Wilma L. Proctor Stevens, 91, of Summersville, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012, in the Broadmore Senior Living at Hurricane.
Born April 14, 1920, at Charleston, she was a daughter of the late Ollie Vandall Rohrig and M.E. Proctor. Also preceding her in death was her husband, A.D. “Al” Stevens Jr.
Wilma was a resident of the Summersville community for 60 years. She and her husband Al were former owners of Stevens Gas Service and the Dairy Queen and were founding members of the Summersville Memorial Park Golf Course where they enjoyed many years of playing, and in her early years she also enjoyed bowling. She was an avid bridge player, belonging to several clubs for over 50 years including a member of the Wakoma No. 52-Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her two daughters, Joann (Harold) Walker of Hurricane and Diann (Glenn) Ables of Logan; three grandchildren left to cherish her memory, Laura (Donnie) Frye, Tim (Jane) Ables and Allen (Angela) Ables, and seven great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kaylee, Casey, Cami, Christain, Alex and Allyson. She will be sadly missed by her family and close friends.
The family would especially like to thank Hospice Care and the staff of Broadmore Senior Living.
A celebration of Wilma’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, in the Summersville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Greg Kupar officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Memorial Park at Summersville.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Summersville Presbyterian Church 427 Waters Street Summersville, WV 26651.
White Funeral Home of Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.
