CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Carl Barker, 86, of Chapmanville, was born February 14, 1926, at Holden, a son of the late William M. and Tola Sparks Barker. He departed this life Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at the CAMC Memorial Division at Charleston.
Also preceding him in death was his son, Rev. Carl Dwaine Barker, and brother, Merl Barker.
Mr. Barker was a retired coal miner from Amherst Coal Company, and a member of the UMWA and the Striker Bible Church. He served in the Pacific during World War II in the US Navy earning the rank of Signalman First Class.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Brown Barker; son, Ronnie Barker of Chapmanville; grandchildren, LaDonna Coleman of Tabor City, N.C., and Christopher Barker of Tornado; daughter-in-law, Lois Barker of Harts; sisters-in-law, Rene (John) Counts and Doris Brown; several nieces and nephews, and his special cat, Pretty Boy.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Rev. Richard Tanner officiating.
Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville is handling the arrangements for the Barker Family.
