LOGAN – The Logan County Commission attended to routine matters and approved payments to community organizations.


Exonerations of erroneous assessments (errors in taxing process) were approved and approved accepting the decision of the fiduciary commissioner in the estates of Wilkie Plumley and Jefferson Homer Fox.


The signing of a $40,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Resources to the Family Resource Network was approved.


The commission approved hiring Danielle Maynard as a part-time addressing clerk for 911.


Requests were made from several organizations were made. The Coalbots FLLTeam 12563, the request for help with paying the heat bill for a gym for the Loan All-Girls Basketball Team, and the request for help with roof repairs at the Henlawson Fire Department were taken under advisement pending receipt of additional information.


The Logan Empowerment Action and Development (LEAD) community organization requested $4,000 to assist with their projects for next year. Commission President Danny Godby listed some of the projects LEAD has done this year including a project to insure each child has a new pair of shoes, they have cleaned up graffiti and assisted during the flood. The request was approved contingent on their providing details of the projects.


The request for assistance with the 2013 King Coal Classic Basketball Tournament was approved for both Chapmanville and Logan High Schools in the amount of $2,500 each was approved.


Reports and other routine business were addressed and the meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 3.
