A Kanawha County man has been accused of crushing a pill and snorting it. Not only did the man snort the pill in a public restaurant but also in front of his 20-month old daughter.

According to the criminal complaint, Danny Crystal, 24, of Charleston, was dropped off at Walmart in Logan with his daughter. While at Walmart, Crystal allegedly took at an “Amiga motorized scooter worth approximately $3,500.00 and drove the scooter to Reno’s restaurant” with his daughter.

Inside Reno’s, Crystal allegedly “proceeded to crush the pill and snort it off the table.”

West Virginia State Trooper B.A. Lowe, the arresting officer, approached Crystal and asked to speak with him in a more secluded part of the restaurant. Crystal agreed and began to walk with the officer. Lowe observed Crystal remove something from his pocket and try to hide the item in the diaper of the child. Lowe “grabbed the defendant’s wrist” and the item “fell to the floor.” The item was a cellophane wrapper with blue residue and a blue pill identified as Alprazolam 1 mg, a Schedule IV controlled substance.

Crystal was charged with child neglect creating substantial risk of injury, grand larceny, possession of a controlled substance and obstructing an officer.

• Robert Lee Fields, 23, was arrested and charged with sexual assault on November 9 by WVSP Tpr. Cpl. L.D. Hensley. He is being held in the South Western Regional Jail on a $5,000 cash only bail for this charge.

• Ricky Joe Frye, 24, was arrested and charged with assault, battery and destruction of property on November 25 by WVSP Tpr. J.G. Honaker. He was released on a $3,500 bond.

• Joshua Aaron Woody, 31, was arrested and charged with DUI, speeding, carrying a dangerous weapon and seat belt violation on November 29 by WVSP Tpr. M.A. Broadwater. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
