First Christian welcomes new pastor
The First Christian Church in Logan has welcomed a new pastor.
Rev. Andrew D. Wade accepted pastorship of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in November 2012.
Rev. Wade served as pastor of Wickliffe Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Youngstown, Ohio, from July 2005 until November 2012. Prior to his being called to Wickliffe, he was Associate Minister of Twinsburg Church of Christ, in Macedonia, Ohio, from April 2002 to June 2005, and served as Campus Minister at Christian Student Foundation, in Kent, Ohio from June 1980 to May 2002.
He initiated and directed a campus ministry at Kent State University from 1980 through 2002. While at Kent State, Rev. Wade served terms as president, vice-president, and secretary-treasurer of the Campus Ministers Organization. He also served terms as president and vice-president of the National Association of Christian Campus Ministries. He has served as co-leader of the District IV Ministers in the Ohio Region of the Christian Church and he has participated in ecumenical events such as Lenten services and community events. Andy pastored rural congregations in Ohio and Illinois from 1975 to 1978.
Having been ordained on February 8, 1976, in the Ohio Region, Rev. Wade has a Master of Divinity degree from Lincoln Christian Seminary, Lincoln, Ill., (1977-1980), a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kentucky Christian University, Grayson, Ky., (1972-1975) and he attended Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., from 1971-1972.
Married to Patricia Wade since December 26, 2009, Andy has three grown daughters from a previous marriage: Anastasia, an attorney in Cleveland, Ohio; Stephanie, a teacher in Ownings Mills, Md., and Mary Beth, a graduate student at the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. He has a step-daughter and step-son, both living in Frankfort, Key. His step-daughter Erin Mentzer works for the county courthouse and step-son Ben Mentzer works for the employment department for the state. Patricia works as support staff in high school special education. She is an avid artist and talented singer.
Rev. Wade and his wife reside in the church parsonage also known as the Hatfield House at Stollings.
