VERDUNVILLE, W.Va. — Odell Vance, 70, of Verdunville, departed this life Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.


Born May 23, 1942, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Mose and Ruth Ann Moore Vance. Also preceding him in death was his step-mother, Bessie Jones Vance; one sister, Myrtle (and Roy) Ward, and brothers, Otto Vance, Ira Vance, and Donald Vance.


Odell was formerly employed by Dehue Mining Company, a member of the UMWA, loved to attend church, a member of the Maryetta United Baptist Church, and enjoyed rabbit hunting.


Survivors include two brothers, Clinton (Sue) Vance of Oakwood, Ohio, and Carmie (Mary) Vance of Verdunville; sister, Minnie (Aaron) Rice of Chapmanville; three sisters-in-law, Kathleen Vance of Danville, Freda Vance of Verdunville, and Stella Vance of Dingess; 17 nieces and nephews; one very special great-nephew, Shane Vance, one very special great-niece, Ronni Beth Vance, that he loved dearly, and many wonderful friends.


Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, at Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville with Pastor Lonnie Gore Jr. and Rev. Otto Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mil.


Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church.


Pallbearers will be Richard Johnson, Boyd Vance, James Rice, Tommy Vance, Danny Vance, and Ronnie Vance.
