ACCOVILLE, W.Va. — Bernice Legg Hughes, 87, of Accoville, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born June 1, 1925, in Fola, she was a daughter of the late Curt and Hattie Legg. Also preceding her in death was her son, James Edward; brothers, Elbert and John Curtis Legg, and her great-great-granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Hughes.

Survivors include her ex-husband, Willow Hughes; daughters, Carol Pierce of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Pat Solomon (Kenny) of New Boston, Mich.; sons, Carmel (Ann) of Mallory, Curt (Karen) of Columbus, Ohio, Lowell (Judy) of Accoville, and Michael (Margo) of Silver City, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Grace Brown, Greta (Otto) Brown, Mary (Jim) Hess, and Nancy Tucker; brothers, Herald, Max, Ned (Doris), and Kenny, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, January 7, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home at Clay with Minister Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery at Bickmore.

Visitation will begin two hours prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
