Logan’s Kaitlan Moore walked away as a Toughman runner-up last weekend in Huntington.

Moore, a 21-year-old amateur boxer, took second in the women’s division championship bout on Saturday at the 25th-annual Tri-State Original Toughman Contest at Huntington’s Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Moore lost to Ashley Grizzle of Portsmouth, Ohio, in the finals.

Nearly 10,000 fans were on hand for the two-night event, which was promoted by Jerry Thomas’ West Virginia Sports Promotions Inc.

In the main event professional bout, Lenore’s Warren Browning was defeated by Oak Hill’s Bobby Thomas Jr., in a cruiserweight fight which was stopped at the end of the second round via TKO. Browning is now 17-3 in his pro career, while Thomas, the West Virginia Cruiserweight Champion, is now 12-1.

In other Toughman championship fights, Dustin Ryan of Ashland, Ky., beat Rashawde Myers of Huntington in the men’s heavyweight finals.

Melvin Russell of Greenup, Ky., defeated Charles Whittington of Huntington in the men’s light heavyweight title bout.

Huntington’s Deron Keeton was the winner in the men’s middleweight championship fight as he won over Justin Clark, also of Huntington.

Trent Blankenship of Coal Grove, Ohio, was the winner in the men’s light heavyweight title fight as he beat Brandon Kitts of South Point, Ohio.
