Opposing Assault Weapons Ban

Editor,

I stand firmly opposed to the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 because the bill would be burdensome to law-abiding citizens. The name of the bill is also misleading to the public because the bill attempts to regulate far more than assault weapons.

One of the provisions will restrict how legally owned firearms are stored in our homes. Frankly, I don’t think the bill’s sponsor, Californian Senator Dianne Feinstein, has any business telling West Virginian’s what to do in our homes. Her ideas about making more laws are short-sighted because criminals are not inclined to obey laws.

Consider this: criminals sell crack-cocaine, heroin, and meth every day even though the drugs are illegal. New laws will not increase the safety of our nation but they will limit the ability of good Americans to defend themselves.

The residents of West Virginia will need to act quickly to preserve our right to bear arms because Senator Dianne Feinstein and the Obama Administration are working hard to take our rights away. They want to make it hard to own guns and they want to tell you want do in your own home.

I encourage everyone to write a letter or send an email to your Senators and Congressional representatives to let them know you don’t support the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013.

Rockefeller’s retirement

Editor,

I am writing in regard to the announced retirement of Sen. Rockefeller, at the end of his current term. I believe that he has done a lot for the people of this state, in a lot of ways, particularly the bill that helps retired coal miners to keep their health care insurance.

I don’t really understand why, but it seems that in the later years of his tenure as senator he has neglected to consider the will of the citizens of WV and followed the ultra liberals of Washington D.C. I am speaking specifically of the enormous national debt that threatens to sink the country.

I am also speaking of the moral decline that the country has sunken into. Such as abortion — which is nothing less than the killing of unborn babies. Also of The Senator’s backing of same sex marriages, which God’s word, the Holy Bible calls sin, and will condemn the soul that does these things to hell, and will destroy the nation that supports or condones these abominations.

I deeply love this country, and I pray that our leaders will repent and seek God and His will and begin to lead the U.S. back to God before it is too late and our country sinks into the dustbin of history, as so many great empires of the past ages have done.

Pissed Off Yet? How About Now?

Published On February 20, 2013 | By james |

If the NRA hasn’t made you sick to your stomach yet, you’re not paying attention.

Do you really think this fear-mongering garbage should be on our airwaves? How about culpability when some delusional, marginalized survivalist decides to go nuts against society and starts shooting away?

If you are a card-carrying member of the NRA, you are a part of the problem. Cancel your membership now.

We must look toward our Federal Government to implement common sense laws directed at the States. Yes, one size can fit all.

I am also a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment, I believe that any person has an inherent right to keep and bear Arms in the defense of one's self and their Family. But, it comes a time to get real. This is not one Nation under the NRA. The Gun right fringe has perverted our 2nd Amendment to where we have became a Gun Nut Nation. Enough is Enough, it is time for Gun Nut Control. Keep certain Guns out of the hands of the general public. Any Simi-automatic rifle or hand gun shall not be manufactured or imported from such and such date for public consumption. Any Simi-Automatic firearm can be modified to fire Automatic. All legal firearms will be accompanied with a Title of ownership when purchased. If said firearm is sold or transferred, a new Title shall be made showing the sale or transfer to the new owner. This will be Federal Law executed by the State in which the sale or transfer is made. The NRA/Conservatives/ Republicans/Chamber/Tories/ do not want a National data base, why not, if there was a National data base, those firearms used in a crime could be traced back to the previous owner. These Right-Wing groups are in fact protecting the criminal use of these firearms. All Simi-automatic firearms owned before such of such date would be the property of the owner at that time. I would keep mine as collector items. these firearms could not be sold or transferred by law. Join me in common sense solutions for the safety of our Children and Grand Children. Your "Point of View" can not be refuted, yes, the sky is blue, it will rain, no, we can not stop it. But for the sake of reason, we can get out of the friggin rain. A comprehensive solution will have to be found to limit the slaughter in our Nation.

el, I do not see insults in my comment, the Parties and Organizations mentioned are the problem, not the solution. Those listed have never offered a violable solution, only obstruction. If you see yourself as a Conservative, that is no problem, you have that right, but measure conservative beliefs with the Constitution, there is no semblance. You see a problem as I, those listed will only be an obstruction, not a solution. You are a Conservative, I am a Liberal, don't let labels become an impedance to the problem in coming to a solution. Yours in Brotherhood.

Freedom of Speech is a protected individual right. But, another individual has the right to sue another for Slander or Libel even thou the writer or speaker is declaring their Constitutional right under the 1st Amendment. I find that most anything is Paradoxal if viewed from the other side. That is why everybody has a "Point of View". Some that might not meet the so-called Norm. I am a conservative and support some forms of gun control as well as a database. I do believe in freedom of speech without mocking people. That's why nothing is accomplished. The problem is using once-respectable forums for name-calling and insults. No one gets anyone else's point for all the other stuff to shovel through.

I do get the point, eventually, but your insults make it hard.
