Tigers’ Martin leads Cardinal Conference in scoring

CHAPMANVILLE — Chapmanville Regional High School’s Mackenzie Martin is having one heck of a senior season.

The 6-foot-4 forward/center began the week as the leading scorer in the Cardinal Conference at 20.2 points a game. Through 13 games, Martin had scored 263 points.

The Tigers started off this week sixth in the eight-team Cardinal Conference with an overall record of 8-6 and a league mark of 3-4.

Behind Martin, Scott High School’s Matt Dolan is second in the league in scoring at 18.1 points per contest.

Sissonville’s Zach Null (17.4) is third, Mingo Central’s Austin Banks (15.5) is fourth and Tolsia’s Morgan Stacy (15.5) is fifth.

Trent Stowers of Sissonville is sixth in the Cardinal in scoring as he checks in at 14.2 points a game. Herbert Hoover’s Cody Morris (13.7) and Chapmanville’s Kenny Plumley (13.7) are tied for seventh, Tolsia’s Terry Davis (13.1) and Poca’s Noah Frampton (13.1) are tied for ninth and Wayne’s Brett Justice (13.) is 10th.

Tolsia’s Brandon Clark (11.5) is 11th among the league’s top scorers. Alex Lee of Mingo Central (11.4) is 12th, Eric May (11.3) is 13th and Cameron Cottrill of Poca (10.1) is 14th.

The Poca Dots sit atop of the league standings with an overall record of 13-1 and a conference mark of 7-1. Tolsia (9-6, 6-2) is second, Mingo Central (7-6, 5-4) and Scott (10-6, 5-4) are tied for third, Herbert Hoover (8-5, 4-4) is fifth, Chapmanville (8-6, 3-4) sixth, Sissonville (5-9, 2-6) seventh and Wayne (4-9, 0-7) eighth.
