BIG CREEK – A volatile situation took a turn for the worse and Joshua David Mullins, 33, of Big Creek, now faces multiple charges.

A criminal complaint in the Magistrate Court of Logan County tells the story of incidents occurring at Big Creek on February 5.

Victim Jessica Dingess made a statement to West Virginia State Police officers that her boyfriend, Joshua Mullins, had physically attacked her and set her trailer on fire.

The investigation revealed the victim and accused were in a verbal argument when the accused became physically abusive and struck the victim in the face and head multiple times. The victim said the accused then set fire to a piece of paper and threw it into the trash can. Dingess said she pulled the trash can outside and went to a neighbor’s house.

The victim stated she went back and forth between her home and the neighbor’s house several times before going back inside. When she did go back into her home, she found the stove had been pulled out from the wall and several holes had been knocked in walls inside her home.

Dingess went on to say the accused came after her again and she fled once more to the neighbors. The neighbors and Dingess told officers that a few minutes later, they saw the trailer was on fire and they witnessed Mullins leaving the residence.

Officers made contact with Mullins, who refused to follow the verbal commands he was given and had to be physically restrained.

Mullins was arrested and charged with arson, domestic battery, domestic assault and obstructing. Bond was set at $10.000.
