Logan High School graduate Ali Neace is off to a good start this season with the Alderson Broaddus College women’s softball team.

Neace, a junior pitcher and former standout with the LHS Lady Cats, was named as the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday after tossing a complete-game no-hitter last Saturday against Virginia University of Lynchburg.

Neace struck out 10 Dragons in the outing, her second no-hitter since firing one against Molloy last season.

The Battlers (2-0) swept both contests in the weather-shortened Shaw Tournament.

“Ali came out very strong was hitting her spots and was just on all game,” Alderson Broaddus first-year coach Shawn Bowers said. “It was fun to watch her pitch.”

Neace and the Battlers are scheduled to travel to Florida from March 9-16 as A-B is slated to play in the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. The Battlers are set to play a total of 13 games in the Sunshine State.

Neace pitched 11 complete games and had five shutouts while allowing 13 doubles and two triples while holding opponents to just a .221 batting average. At the end of the season she was named honorable mention all-conference.

Alderson Broaddus, located in Philippi, W.Va., went 24-23 last season, including a 13-15 mark in the WVIAC.
