LOGAN, W.Va. — John Dewitt “Zeke” Turner Jr., 65, of Logan, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at his residence.
Born June 1, 1947, in Logan, he was a son of the late John and Lucinda Turner. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Carl and Anthony Ray Turner, and one sister, Cynthia Turner.
Zeke was an orderly at Guyan Valley Hospital in Logan for 15 years. He then worked in the Youngstown Coal Mines for 20 years. Zeke was also a member of the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ at Whitman. Zeke was always the first person to reach out a helping hand to his family, and the last person standing by his family and friend’s sides. The love he had for his wife and family was great, but no greater than the love his family and friends will always have for him. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Rebecca E. Turner; two daughters, Victoria (Lloyd) Jones and Jeanette “Peaches” Bullock; five sons, John D. (Terri) Turner III, Linton L. Turner (fiancée Jamie Wolfe), Tommy L. (Jessie) Turner, Michael Williams, and Marcus Ragland; 11 grandchildren, Tiera (Rashon) Johnson, Janale (Ashton) Ross, Sasha Turner, Kelly Adams, Katie Adams, Kiera Turner, Tommy Turner Jr., Marcellus Turner, Devon Turner, Christopher Turner, and Tyson Turner; six sisters, Patricia, Bessie, Deloris, Victoria, Pamela, and Camela; six brothers, Albert, Larry, Tracy, Carlos, Claude, and Robert; two godchildren, Donald Hubbard and Ernest Shaw; two aunts, Estella Jemerison and Blanch Tolliver; one uncle, Thomas (Swanetta) Tolliver; special cousin, Jean Turner; and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at noon Monday, February 25, at Original Glorious Church of God in Christ with Pastor Rocine Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
Pallbearers will be sons, brothers, and friends. Flower bearers will be daughters, granddaughters, and friends.
Pond Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of arrangements.
