A Logan County Magistrate Court Criminal Complaint filed by the West Virginia State Police says officers responded to a call with injuries in the community of Saunders Fork. They found the victim with bruises to the left side of his face and neck.
The victim told officers he and Alexander Dwayne Dalton, 28, of Chapmanville, got into a verbal altercation at Dalton’s residence and Dalton hit him in the face with a shovel, causing a deep bruise to his face and neck.
Officers then questioned Dalton, who admitted to them he had swung the coal bucket shovel at the victim, but not at his face.
Dalton was arrested and charged with malicious assault. His bond was set at $10,000.
