A Logan County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call in reference to a motor vehicle crash at Mudfork.
The criminal complaint says when the officer arrived at the scene, he found Joseph Allen Marcum, 24, of Breeden, standing outside of the vehicle on the road.
Bystanders told the deputy that Marcum, the suspect, was trapped in the driver’s seat, under the steering wheel upon contact with the vehicle. The bystanders also told the deputy they saw the suspect driving just prior to the wreck.
The deputy noted the suspect was unsteady on his feet and had an odor of alcohol emitting from his person and attempted to administer field sobriety tests. The suspect was found to have a horizontal gaze nystagmus, but all other tests were refused.
The suspect blew a .111 blood alcohol contact on a preliminary breath tester, then was taken to Logan Regional Medical Center for a blood test and medical attention.
Marcum was placed under arrest and charged with grand larceny, DUI, driving suspended, speeding, failure to maintain control and obstructing an officer. His bond was set at $7,500.
