HOLDEN, W.Va. — Ruth Stepson Allen, 84, of Holden, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 22 , 2013, after a long illness.

Born January 28, 1929, in Holden, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Sr. and Tennie Meade Stepson. Also preceding her in death was a son, Charles Randall Turner, and his wife, Jane Quick Turner, both of Lakeland, Fla.; brother Andrew Stepson Jr. of Lakeland, and a sister, Katie Simborski of Indian Head, Md.

Ruth lived in West Virginia most of her life except for a period of eight years when she and her family lived in New Jersey. She was a longtime member of No. 7 Freewill Baptist Church in Holden.

Survivors include her loving partner and husband of 64 years, Leonard Allen; sons, Leonard J. Allen of Athens, Ohio, John Patrick Allen (Linda Tince) of Mt. Arlington, N.J., and Claude Andrew “Toby” Allen (Tina Messer) of Holden; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Ruby (Bob) Carter of Hyattsville, Md., and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at noon Friday, April 26, at No. 7 Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. for family and 6-8 p.m. for friends Thursday at the church.

Her sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Children’s Fund at No. 7 Freewill Baptist Church, Holden, WV 25625.

James Funeral Home of Logan is in charge of arrangements.
