CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team made it a sweep over Sherman at home on Monday as the Class AA No. 10-ranked Tigers won a pair of 10-0 games at Chapmanville’s Ted Ellis Field.

Chapmanville improved to 14-5 win the two wins.

Nick Brumfield tossed a no-hitter in the first game as he walked only one batter. The only other Tide batter to reach base was via error. Brumfield had nine strikeouts for the game.

“Nick Brumfield bounced back from the Scott game and threw like he is capable of throwing,” Chapmanville coach Eric Ellis said. “He hit his spots. We hit the ball well and if we can do that we could be a player come post-season tournament time.”

Several Tigers had big nights at the plate in Game 1.

Brady Cox and Adam Dingess had two hits each. Brock Dalton, William Copley, Tristan Thompson, Scottie Thompson, Dustin Conley and Austin Watts all had hits.

In the second game, Austin Ellis and Jacob Dingess combined to toss a two-hitter for the Tigers. Ellis started and went three innings and was credited with the win. Dingess fired the last two innings.

The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Chapmanville was scheduled to get back into action on Tuesday night against Mingo Central at Williamson’s Lefty Hamilton Park.

The Tigers are then at Man on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game, weather permitting, before hosting Sissonville on Thursday at 7 and Clay County on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CRHS goes to Poca on Saturday for a 4 p.m. makeup game.
