IROQUOIS, W.Va. — Nelva Louise Aleshire Large, 80, of Iroquois, formerly of Logan County went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Born February 19, 1933, at Logan, she was a daughter of the late John N. and Lula E. Strickland Aleshire. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Janet Sue Byler, and a brother, Ray E. Aleshire.
Louise was a homemaker and attended the Charity Baptist Church in Mullens. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her homemade biscuits, she loved planting and tending to her flowers, and she also got great enjoyment and comfort out of gospel music and loved to sing.
When we pause to remember Louise we shall always remember her love for her family, church family, and her friends who she loved dearly.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years, Richard L. Large; two daughters, Treasa (David) Lane of Barkers Ridge and Diana (Todd) Franklin of Mullens; three sons, Richard G. (Sheilah) Large and Roger D. (Angela) Large, both of Allen Junction, and Dennis H. (Terry) Large of Itmann; two sisters, Margret (Sam) Coyle of Brandenberg, Ky., and Patricia Hatfield of South Carolina; three brothers, Harold Aleshire, Don (Barbara) Aleshire and John (Jane) Aleshire, all of Brandenberg; 12 grandchildren, Tracy, Paul, Amber, Emily, Justin, Candasce, Kaylee, D.J., Kelli, Kasey, Steven, and Jeremy; six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Dawson, Ryan, Kate, Hannah, and Emerson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry England and Rev. Dalley Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
