The Ladies Auxiliary of the Central United Baptist Church met at the Christian Center for their regular meeting on April 8th.
The ladies, along with several guests from Maryetta United Baptist Church, were welcomed by President Janet Doss who read from Psalms 67.
Prayer requests were taken and the auxiliary fellowshipped and sang the theme song, “Love Lifted Me”. Linda Markham led the opening prayer.
Members Lana Brammer, Kaye Browning, Geraldine Butler, Carole Hensley, Karen Jeffrey, Betty Mullins, Betty Lambert, Linda Markham, Pam Queen, Margaret Small, Jo Ann White and Karen Wooten of Host Circle 4 were recognized.
Pat Maynard and Melody Adkins had birthdays during April.
Pam Queen read the minutes of the March meeting and Sue Farmer gave the treasurer’s report.
• Mother’s Day dinner to be held on May 13 at Angie Rice’s at Yuma. Members are to let Kaye Browning, Tammy Blankenship or Lana Brammer know by the last of April if they plan to attend.
• New church directories and the kitchen remodel. Lana Collins and those who can help will clean the kitchen on April 23rd.
• Revival with Rev. Bobby Burns held April 17-21.
Special guest speaker was Cora Lee Hairston, who shared with us how she decided to write “Faces Behind the Dust”, about a little girl growing up in a coal camp. She read us some of the stories and shared her inspiration with the Auxiliary. The ladies were also treated to songs as Cora Lee played the piano and sang “I’m Amazed” and “Working on My Getaway. Cora Lee also signed copies of her book after the meeting.
Freda White won the door prize. Pamela and Jason Smith had a table set up for the Oragami jewelry which is a project of the Auxiliary.
Debbie Evans offered the closing prayer and blessed the food.
