HAMPTON, Va. — Virginia “Bobbie” Peek Harsch, 78, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013., Born July 5, 1934, in Logan, Bobbie was a devoted wife and mother, an avid reader, a wonderful dancer, and a lover of crafts. She was proud to be a coal miner’s daughter. She retired from Civil Service in 1992 at Fort Monroe after a distinguished 28-year career, culminating as a Management Analyst in the Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Kate and Elmo Peek of Man; her husband of 41 years, James Harsch, and her brothers, Bill and Kenny Peek.
Survivors include her sister, Sandy Peek Forbes of Newport News, Va.; son, Norman Harsch of Hampton; daughters, Teresa (Tom) Hood of Richmond, Va., Vivian (Mark) Carpenter of Williamsburg, Va., and Laura (Erin) Harsch of Brooklyn, N.Y.; eight stepchildren and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. at Chapel of the Centurion in Fort Monroe, Va., on Saturday, May 18. Final inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
