GREENVILLE, W.Va. — Ulysses G. “Junior” Brown, 66, of Greenville, formerly of Kistler, passed away Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013, at his home of a sudden illness.


Born October 16, 1946, he was a son of the late Mary Magdaline Osborne and the late Ulysses Brown. Also preceding him in death were three sisters, Brenda Brickles, Agnus “Big Ag Brown” Gursky and Judy Frye; brother, Bill Brown; mother and father-in-law, Lillian and Eugene Adkins; brother-in-law; Rev. Bennie Blankenship; nephew, Lewis Jason Williams, and a niece, Beverly Blankenship.


Junior was formerly employed as a printer by Continental Bondware Co. of Chicago, Ill., and as a security guard with Protective Security and Investigations, Black Hawk, and MIS Security. He loved to take walks, fish, look for ginseng, spend time with his grandkids and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War.


Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years at home, Nancy, whom he married on November 22, 1971; two sons, Christopher Brown (fiancée Kashawnna Hunter) at home, and Eugene G. Brown of Ironton, Ohio; brother, Herman (Ruth) Brown of Greenville; sister, Betty Sue Ellis of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Christopher Dakota “Koty” Brown and Tabitha Hendricks; former daughter-in-law, Donna Hendricks of Accoville, and a host of family and friends.


Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 19, at Greenville Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Baxter Toler and Brother Bill Brown Officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors and graveside rites being performed by the W.Va. National Guard, VFW Post 6153, American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville and the DAV post 39 of Harts.


Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Saturday at the church.


Flowers may be sent or memorial donations can be made to the family to help with final expenses.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to his family and the staff of Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton, Ohio.
