BRUNO, W.Va. — Martha Walker Harvey, 81, of Bruno, departed this life to be with Jesus Christ our Lord, while under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County, Penn., to enter her eternal rest on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.
Born February 4, 1932, at Sandlick, she was a daughter of the late Wirt and Sadie Grimmett Walker. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband of 48 years, Cecil Eugene Harvey, and one sister, Lula Carter of Columbus, Ohio.
Martha was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother; sister, aunt and friend. She was a homemaker and a devoted member of the Bruno Church of God. She always enjoyed working at the church and with the Ladies Aid in days of young. She loved spending time with her wonderful family, her beloved church family and her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Martha was a loving mother to three sons, Terry (Sherry Browning) Harvey and Randy (Pam Simkins) Harvey, both of Bruno, and Gary (Gladys Rose) Harvey of Mitchell Heights and one daughter, Cathy “Queenie” (Lloyd) Belcher of Elizabethtown, Penn. She was “Mamaw” to eight grandchildren: Boe Belcher, T.D. Harvey, Kim Keller, Missy Dean, Michelle Branham, Gary “Bub” Harvey, J.R. Harvey and Jason Harvey. She has 10 great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her four sisters: Janice Myers of Bruno, Geneva “Boogie” Ellis of Landville, Carol Adkins of Columbus, and Ann Paynter of Ballard; her two nieces that were considered sisters to her: Louise Ellis and Wanda Cline, both of Columbus, and a host of other dear family and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Bruno Church of God with Rev. Roger Frye and Rev. Mike VanNatter officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Friends may gather with the family after 6 p.m. Friday at the church.
Martha will be carried to her final resting place by her grandsons: Boe Belcher, T. D. Harvey, Zack Robinson, Gary “Bub” Harvey, Steve Branham, Jansen Keller and Tony Dean.
She is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
