A local man who is no stranger to area law enforcement officers was arrested twice in one week this month.

• Jamie Edward Morris, 24, of Peach Creek was initially arrested by Deputies B. Cobb and J. Sheppard of the Logan County Sheriff's Department on an attachment for contempt of court charges on April 17.

He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 11:45 a.m.

Morris appeared in Logan Magistrate Court that morning in muddy socks and deputies told The Logan Banner that when they knocked on his front door to arrest him he allegedly fled out the back, only to run right into the arms of another officer.

Logan County Magistrate Jeff Lane explained to Morris that he was arrested because he had been out of incarceration at the leisure of the court when he had allegedly gotten in trouble again, leading to his new arrest.

Morris was arrested on April 22 by West Virginia State Police Trooper T.L. Toney and two members of the U.S. 119 Drug and Violent Crime Task Force on the charge of delivery of a controlled substance.

According to his criminal complaint, in November of 2008, Morris "did deliver a controlled substance to an individual working for the US 119 Task Force by exchanging a controlled substance for U.S. currency."

He was booked at the regional jail at 6:30 p.m. on the new charges.

Morris was reportedly released on a $10,000 bond.
